Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for details.
A high-ranking official commented the attack left him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
