19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since that period of that year.

The win also means he has achieved 21 titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet defended four early break points in a close final set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
