Christantus Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Win at Shelbourne.
Even though entering their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
Another victory in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS ought to be enough to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, especially following a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Moment
This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official waved away the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had hit the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.
Pino Seals the Game
The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
